Potential brand identity for West African ginger drinks

Finalist for rebrand of West African ginger drink brand, Yamacu. Brief required reimagined logo, font, label and color scheme for Multicultural Ginger Drink, reflecting cultural roots. Proposal includes mood board, references, potential color scheme, sketches, and short paragraph on how I would have approached the project.

β€œFor this design for Yamacu, I want to make sure that the integrity of the West African culture remains. I want to be confident that the references and visuals I use to create my design are connected to the culture, and do not perpetuate misconceptions. I intend to use elements of nature in my approach, finding flora that originate in West Africa to include in my design. I draw a lot of my inspiration in nature and plants in all of my pieces. I also think it would be nice to nod at the ginger root, these are ginger drinks after all! Seeing that I am not African, I would approach the project in a collaborative way, hopefully getting to speak with Salimata (the owner) in order to understand more in depth of what it is like to be Mali in Africa.”
